Holderness Division's final design for their section of the county's Millennium Tapestry for Paxwold (Click on any of the Districts for a link) |
|
Holderness Division is very extensive, stretching from the eastern boundary of Hull to the North Sea coast and extending from the Humber eastuary in the south northwards beyond Hornsea (see Divisions Map). It is a rural area of coastal seaside resorts, small towns and villages. The nearest large city is Hull, which is itself divided into three separate Guiding Divisions because of its size (population over 250,000.) The Division has one Ranger Unit - Holderness Rangers - which is based in the village of Paull but accepts girls from anywhere in the Division, and is subdivided into three Districts : Hedon, Withernsea and Hornsea and Leven, each centred on the town of the same name and all with a selection of Rainbow, Brownie and Guide units.

Withernsea District : this is the southern half of the coastal strip, roughly triangular with the North Sea on the east, the Humber Estuary to the south and a land boundary along the west side. There is only one town, the coastal resort of Withernsea, but the district also has several villages ranging widely in size. |
