Brownies

A world of new interests, friendship and action-packed fun
Any girl aged between 7 and 10 years can become a Brownie Guide. She will make new friends and take part in new and exciting activities. Indoors and outdoors on camps and holidays Brownies work together to help improve the environment, enjoy games and enjoy happy times together. Later, at 10 or 11, she can go on to become a Guide and continue to have fun, meeting new challenges all the way.

Like all Guides, the Brownie programme is based on the five essentials and the eight points of Guiding : the wording ensures that girls of this age group can understand and relate to them, and the general wording shows that they cover a huge range of ideas and activities to ensure that the programme is balanced and varied and meets all the girls' needs.

For the Brownies, the Five Essentials of Guiding are :
Brownie Guides work together in small groups
Brownie Guides are encouraged to govern themselves and to make their own decisions
Brownie Guides have a balanced and varied programme
Brownie Guides care for the individual
Brownie Guides share a commitment to a common standard
and the Eight Points are :
Character Brownies do their best
Service Brownies lend a hand
