A world of action-packed fun and adventure :
Any girl aged from 10 or over can become a Guide. Join your local unit and, for a couple of hours a week, fun, action and adventure are guaranteed.
Working in groups with your friends you can choose and plan what you do at Guides - anything from a fashion show to organising projects that help your community. Individually you can work towards achieving personal goals and your choice of a wide number of different opportunities - from food to football!

You will also have the chance to go on residential camps and holidays, either in your local area, elsewhere in the UK, or abroad, where you will learn anything from abseiling and archery to canoeing and campaigning.

As a Guide, you'll have fun sharing adventures with new friends, helping others and having the time, space and support to be who you want to be. You can explore your own special interests and play an active part in the community.





The five essentials and the eight points form the basics of all Guiding : girls of this age group can understand and relate to them, and they cover a huge range of ideas and activities to ensure that the programme is balanced and varied and meets all the girls' needs. To this structure the Guides have added five zones

The Five Essentials of Guiding are :

Guides are encouraged to govern themselves and to make their own decisions
Guides have a balanced and varied programme
Guides care for the individual
Guides share a commitment to a common standard

and the Eight Points are :

Out-of-doors Enjoying the out-of-doors

The Guide programme is structured around Go For Its - a wide choice of activities that the girls select from for themselves and work at together as a patrol.
